Out of the over 1.1 million citizens of Calgary, Downtown Calgary is home to roughly 15,000 residents.
The first and most densely packed area of this trio of downtown city neighborhoods in Calgary is referred to as the Downtown Commercial Core. The second section of Downtown Calgary is the Downtown West End, known as more of a residential area that consists of domestic apartment buildings and condominiums, and just a few single-family detached houses.
